The Quinta dos Esconhais (Esconhais Estate), in Castanheira de Pera, is a historic space built in the late 19th century by Manuel Antunes Ceppas, part of a woollen textile complex that boosted the region’s development. Acquired in the 1980s by Viriato Graça Oliva and Maria Fernanda Oliveira, it was transformed into a family retreat, with careful restoration of gardens, orchards, and animal rearing, marked by traditions like the annual grape harvest and a lively feijoada, reflecting the family’s welcoming spirit. In the 2000s, the new generation opened the Quinta dos Esconhais to tourism, renovating the houses with a contemporary and artistic design led by Diana Graça Oliva, an architect and granddaughter of the owners. The Casa Fundeira offers cozy accommodation for families or groups, with gardens, a pool, a chapel, and event spaces, ideal for weddings. Located in the Lousã Mountain Range, the Quinta combines nature, tranquility, and cultural heritage, inviting guests to a unique stay.
