It all starts in this small Village (Rabaçal), where António Garrido was born on August 13, 1920, a rural sheep farmer who practiced a very common activity here in our land: the production of meat, milk, and wool or hair. Over the years, he gained experience and knowledge in the sector, and the commercialization of our cheese became inevitable, to the point of providing for his family with his wife, Isilda de Jesus. Later, following his teachings, his daughter Maria de Fátima and her son-in-law Manuel Bonito continued his sales legacy. In 1985, they renovated the small existing shop and added the Restaurante O Bonito (The Beautiful Restaurant) to sell the cheese and regional products made in Rabaçal. In 2009, his granddaughter Cláudia Bonito continued this project, which is part of the route of the Caminhos de Santiago and, later, the Caminhos de Fátima on the Carmelitas route. In addition, due to the evident demand, in 2017, she moved forward with the project for the Albergue O Bonito (The Beautiful Hostel), which was renovated and expanded in 2024 with her husband, Manuel Silva. They are very proud of what they have been creating and believe that to have a successful business, someone, someday, had to take a courageous stand.
